The F3 compact sedan, launched in 2005, became one of China's best-selling cars of its era and left a very large parked fleet behind it. In March 2022 BYD announced it had ceased production of pure internal-combustion vehicles, building only battery-electric models and DM plug-in hybrids from that point. Its Blade battery, a lithium iron phosphate design introduced in 2020, and the e-Platform 3.0 architecture launched in 2021 underpin most of its current passenger range.

The VIN is the 17-character vehicle identification number stamped on the chassis and shown on the registration document, usually visible through the base of the windscreen and on a plate in the door aperture. That is normal behaviour on a regenerative-braking vehicle. Most deceleration is handled by the motor, so the friction brakes do very little work — the pads last a long time, but the discs are never scrubbed clean and surface corrosion builds up. It is a wear pattern specific to electrified vehicles rather than a fault.
At minimum the VIN and the part you need. Ideally also the model year, the engine code, the transmission type, whether the vehicle is left- or right-hand drive, and a photograph of the old part showing any number printed on it. That combination is usually enough to identify an exact part rather than a probable one.
Look for a moulded, stamped or printed alphanumeric string on the body of the component or on a label attached to it. Ignore date codes and casting marks, which are usually shorter and often include a recognisable date.
