The group's portfolio now includes Volvo Cars, Lotus, Lynk & Co, Proton and Geely's own passenger-car brand. Its two main passenger platforms are BMA, used for smaller models such as the Coolray and the current Emgrand, and CMA, co-developed with Volvo and used for larger models including the Xingyue L, exported as the Monjaro. Engines run from a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder to 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder units in the CMA cars.
Geely's platform sharing works in a buyer's favour, but only if you approach it through part numbers. CMA-based Geely models share architecture with Volvo and Lynk & Co vehicles, which means some chassis and service components have direct equivalents and a wider aftermarket than the Geely badge alone would suggest. It also means the same model name can cover meaningfully different hardware depending on market and specification level — including 48-volt mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants in some regions. Identify the vehicle by VIN, and where a model is offered with more than one engine, treat the engine code as the deciding factor for anything in the engine bay.

An OEM number is the vehicle manufacturer's own part number for a component. It is normally printed, stamped or moulded onto the original part, or onto a label attached to it. Aftermarket manufacturers publish cross-references linking their own catalogue numbers to those OEM numbers, and that cross-reference is what makes an order verifiable rather than an educated guess.
Cross-referencing matters because a single model line rarely uses a single part. Over a production run a manufacturer will change suppliers, revise a design mid-life, fit larger brakes to a heavier or higher-output variant, and build market-specific versions with different lighting, sensors and emissions equipment. Two vehicles that look identical in a showroom photograph can therefore take different parts. The model name narrows the search; the OEM number closes it.
The VIN is the 17-character vehicle identification number stamped on the chassis and shown on the registration document, usually visible through the base of the windscreen and on a plate in the door aperture. It encodes the manufacturer, the model, the body and engine variant and the production sequence, which is why it resolves fitment questions that a model name cannot. On CMA-platform vehicles there is genuine shared architecture, because CMA was co-developed with Volvo, and some chassis and service components have direct equivalents. That can widen the pool of available parts considerably. It has to be verified part number by part number, though — shared architecture is not the same as an identical component.
Both. Geely uses different names for the same vehicle in different markets — Coolray is the export name for the Binyue, and Monjaro is the export name for the Xingyue L. When you send an enquiry, the VIN removes the ambiguity entirely.
At minimum the VIN and the part you need. Ideally also the model year, the engine code, the transmission type, whether the vehicle is left- or right-hand drive, and a photograph of the old part showing any number printed on it. That combination is usually enough to identify an exact part rather than a probable one.
Look for a moulded, stamped or printed alphanumeric string on the body of the component or on a label attached to it. Ignore date codes and casting marks, which are usually shorter and often include a recognisable date. Photograph the whole component as well as the number — context helps identify which of several similar numbers is the part number.
