The starter is a high-current electric motor with a solenoid that engages the pinion with the flywheel ring gear. Heavy trucks commonly run a 24 volt electrical system, so the system voltage has to be confirmed.
Symptoms that usually point to it on a vehicle like the FAW Jiefang J6P:
Check the batteries, terminals and earth strap first. Then give the system voltage, the power rating in kilowatts, the pinion tooth count, the rotation direction, the mounting pattern and the engine model.
Fitment is confirmed from the VIN and from the number on the part being replaced, not from the model name alone: engine variant, trim, market specification and mid-life revisions all change part numbers within the same model year. Send the VIN, the model year, the transmission type, whether the vehicle is left- or right-hand drive, and a photograph of the old part showing any number printed on it.
